THE FLIP SIDE: The Pancake Story
Pancakes are just amazing.
They are worth the hype, and if they’re not getting any hype, this is the hype. But just like many of mankind’s innovations, they haven’t been given the chance to reach their full potential. We relegated pancakes to a breakfast meal.
My love for pancakes stems from the story that accompanies every batch- the batter, the coming-of-age, and the flip side.
This is the pancake story.
The batter:
The batter is where all the magic happens. You throw all your ingredients into the mix and give your pancake a shot at life. The pancake is extremely dependent on you at this stage and many argue that this is the most important stage in the lifespan of the pancake. The ‘formative stages’ they call it.
The Holy Cookbook says, “mix your batter in the way of the light and it shall not fry far from it”.
However, pancake connoisseurs know that it is never that simple. Your pancake may run out of luck in life due to no fault of yours.
The Coming-of-Age:
At this stage, your pancake has come a fair way from its early beginnings. At this stage, you have done all you can to prepare your pancake for the immediate trials of life, at least you hope you have.
